K9 Performance Medicine brings you this unique 2 day seminar that combines canine fitness and sports medicine. Just as professional athletes regularly work with trainers and sports medicine experts to treat and protect against stresses and injury, the working canine team must do the same.

Handlers will work with their dogs to develop a balanced fitness plan consisting of Fit to Work exercises including body awareness, balance, strengthening, flexibility and conditioning exercises. This plan will help maintain an injury-free mission-ready partner.

This seminar will be jointly attended by sports medicine and rehabilitation veterinarians and technicians and select allied professionals who will be participating in evaluating the performance and form of the dogs for maximal benefit. The veterinary and allied professionals will focus on appropriate exercise selection and execution.

Both groups will benefit from didactic lectures as well as hands on practice.

The class is designed for dogs of all ages and all fitness levels (exercises will be adapted as necessary for individual needs) and veterinary professionals with training or a strong interest in sports medicine and rehabilitation.

The class size will be limited to maximize the opportunity for all participants to get individualized instruction. Although no previous training experience is required, the class is taught in a group setting, therefore dogs must be able to work around other dogs on leash.

Teaching is based on positive reward techniques so be sure to bring plenty of small tasty treats and don’t feed your dog prior to class. If your dog prefers toys to treats, bring his/her favorite toys.
